This commissioned piece challenged my skill at negative painting. Trying to bring life to the white jewelry on the fly was a tease for my brain, but I think I pulled it off! The idea of affixing the fly to the corked handle of the fly rod was the inspiration for the title of the piece. The fisherman’s hat, vest and rod are not only the mark of experience, but also the storehouse of those favorite flies which are “Ready To Play”.
The original work, by Teresa Wade, has been sold; archival quality giclée prints are available on heavy watercolor paper in a variety of standard sizes.
