Sun & Wheat
I painted this piece side-by-side with artist, Dotty Sharp of Seattle, Washington. She is a master at loose florals and we spent an afternoon enjoying each other’s company with brushes in hand. Sunflowers are a favorite subject of many watercolorists, especially Dotty. I can see why, they have a manner of watchful wisdom (if a flower can have such a thing). Partnered with the contrasting simplicity of the Holly Hock and the splashy background, this piece is lively and loose. Just the way Dotty likes it.
The original work, by Teresa Wade, resides in the collection of Marisela Therren of Eagle, Idaho; with permission, archival quality giclée prints are available on heavy watercolor paper in a variety of standard sizes.
